Precious Time

This week as I have struggled to find the time to meet my class obligations I am very aware of my limitations.  We have had sickness in the house and my inability to get enough sleep to function has seriously impacted my use of time.  As I consider the time requirements on the Entrepreneur I start to doubt my convictions.  I start to feel like Sarah, a worn out small business owner in Michael E. Gerber's book, "The E-Myth Revisited".  Sarah, like many small business owners, starts out magnificently and comes to a point where she is ready to either give up and close her business or make some major changes.  Given that school is my "business" at the moment, I find myself a little overwhelmed as many Entrepreneurs do at some point.  As I was preparing a business plan for my $100 Challenge small business this week, it occurred to me that I don't have much extra time on my hands for successfully running this small business.  I will find the time, and make it work, because I can see the value in the small business creation and what it can teach me for my future business endeavors.  But I am also very cognizant that time is a precious thing, and must be spent wisely.  I am equally resolved that preparation is the key to success, and thoroughly researching, planning and re-working your plan are important steps in the process.  The work of thinking through the different elements of the $100 Challenge business plan on paper, brought to my mind the complexities of business and the desire to get it right.  I was also preparing a Business Plan on my "Big Idea" business and I realized that you have to be committed 100% to your business.  You should choose something you love or believe in and find ways to make it work.  Giving your time and energy to something you hate or have come to despise will only wear you down and be a waste of your time.  My eyes are opened to the desire to love what I do, and do it in such a way that the time spent will be a benefit to me and to others.  I can be an Entrepreneur if I find or create value in my endeavor.
