Building and Hosting a Website
The very thought of this scares me worse than any scary movie, and yet it is a little exciting too, like you know you're going to like it. Oh man. I don't know that I would dare do this if it wasn't for a grade! I feel nervous mostly because I know nothing about websites. I feel like I barely understand how to google search, and a website with bandwidth and storage space is so far from comfort for me. I guess I am going to learn- by doing it.
I searched through several websites looking for a site builder and a host. Ultimately I think for me it will be easier to go with a site that does both. My lack of knowledge probably plays into this decision, but it just makes sense to me. When I first started to look, one site really appealed to me visually, and it met my criteria, so I decided on it. A few days later I went back and reviewed the two sites that appealed the most to me, I was surprised that a second look changed my mind. I returned to pin down some details, and answer some questions for an assignment. I had an easier time navigating one site and was able to find not only the answers to my questions, but looked into the help features of the site and was impressed with what I saw. When I went to my first choice site, the answers to the questions were a little harder to find, and I found myself digitally stuttering. Because I lack experience and knowledge where website creation is concerned I really need to work with a website I can navigate and understand easily. The two sites were very comparable as to offerings, and cost, but the second go around opened my eyes to the "ease of use" factor, which is actually the most important thing for me.
I am nervous to start a business right now for other reasons as well. First of them being I have so little time to devote to anything else right now. The costs are minimal to me, but time is critical. I also want to do a good job. I don't want to just throw something together for a grade. I have always wanted to own my own business, but it needs to be something I can really do. I question if I can really pull this off over and over again.....I guess we shall see. Ready or not here I come!
